Make this the year you give it up for good with a little herbal help

This year’s No Smoking Day is March 10th and if you are still puffing away we appreciate that it is never going to be easy to quit for good. But there are lots of things that can help you on your way.

First just thinking about the health benefits and how much better your life will become can be really motivating. And as you must already know smoking is a real drain on finances. Just imagine yourself being smoke-free and having all that extra money in your pocket!

If you feel you can’t do it alone NHS Stop smoking services, found all over the country, offer free local help to smokers ready to quit.  Research shows one in two people who use their local NHS service is still not smoking four weeks later.

RELAXING REMEDIES

If you do decide to take the first step and we hope you do you may start to feel anxious and on edge. And this is where the herbal remedy rhodiola may lend a helping hand. Also known as golden root or Aaron’s rod, it grows in cold environments such as the Arctic and Siberia and has long been used to help people cope in times of stress.

Another herb that may be worth a try is the lovely passionflower. Native to South America, it is now cultivated throughout Europe. Available as a tea, tincture or capsule, it is a very gentle herb with relaxing properties, which will also help you to sleep at night.
