If you are suffering from a sore throat or cough now’s the time to reach for some echinacea. These typical symptoms of upper respiratory infection are often caused by secondary bacterial infections as a result of an initial viral infection. And now new research from Canada shows that a standardised extract of echinacea can help to inactivate certain respiratory bacteria as well as reverse any inflammatory effects caused by these bacteria.
