Spice up the barbecue

It’s long been know that grilling meat, fish and chicken at high temperatures can produce unwelcome chemicals ,which in turn can increase your risk of some types of cancer.

But now research carried out at Kansas State University shows that adding certain herbs and spices to beef burgers during cooking could help reduce levels of harmful chemicals.

The spices and herbs used in the study included cumin, coriander seeds, galangal, finger root, rosemary and turmeric. Marinading meats before cooking can also help reduce the levels of potentially harmful chemicals.
