Vitamin D and curcumin for Alzheimer's

A combination of vitamin D and curcumin found in turmeric may boost the immune system to help clear the brain of amyloid beta, which forms the plaques associated with Alzheimer's disease, according to new research carried out at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The early research findings, published in the July issue of the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, may lead to new approaches in preventing and treating Alzheimer's by utilizing the property of vitamin D3 - a form of vitamin D - both alone and together with natural or synthetic curcumin to boost the immune system in protecting the brain against amyloid beta.
