Premenstrual Syndrome

The term premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is used to describe various physical and mental symptoms that some women experience in the week or two weeks leading up to their period. PMS is thought to affect around 40 per cent of women in varying degrees. The exact cause of PMS is not fully understand but is thought to be linked with the changing levels of hormones during the menstrual cycle.
